Getting a notification for every payment that you receive in your business is a great little dopamine hit that motivates you to keep going.
Shopify know this, which is why they send push notifications to store owners for every purchase if you install their mobile app.
But, what if you’re using WHMCS, the industry standard billing platform for web hosting companies?
I wrote a small hook for WHMCS which will send you payment notifications via SMS using Twilio, which you can download here for free.
To use it, you’ll need a Twilio account (get $10 free when you sign up with that referral link) and one phone number with Twilio to send SMS from.
Then, unzip the file on your local computer and open it with a text editor. Update the values near the top of the file with the Twilio phone number and your phone number, the brand name for your hosting company and your Twilio account details. Once that’s done, save it and upload it to the /includes/hooks/ folder in your WHMCS install.
That’s it! Now you’ll receive an SMS each time that someone makes a payment through any gateway, whether it’s Stripe, PayPal, or any other gateway that you use.
